The message
First off I should say "shame on us" for not updating our blog as often as we should. On the flip side, this means Dan and I have been busy at work! Artwork...the best kind of work in our opinion. With this said, we want to share our Medellin mural projects with all of you!

Medellin has brought us many opportunities in the art world. After connecting with the University of Antioquia, Dan and I were placed under the wing of one of the most talented, artist we've ever met. Juan Velez or better known in the streets as "Pacha Mama", took us in and reminded us why we love doing what we do. He taught us valuable techniques in mural and street art and invited us to complete our first project organized by a non profit called Casa de la Cultura,, in Barrio Santander! A redeveloping area that was known as one of the worst areas during the 80s and 90s.

For a solid week, Pacha Mama (Mother Earth), was on our side because for the first time in 2 months it didn't rain! We spent one whole day tracing and creating portrait stencils of Santander locals. The rest of the time was spent in the sun, borrowing ladders, sketchy scaffolding, spray painting, painting and laughing it up with tons of kids and people in area. We were so in the zone! We spent the last day painting till the sun went down...continuing on until it was too dark to see what we were doing! It was a blast and even more exciting was coming back to a completed, well lit mural that the whole barrio was proud of. The whole mural team spent what seemed like hours just staring at it...not in an arrogant "look what we did" kind of way but a "wow, this is a strong image that is going to make an impact" kind of feeling...the way you should feel after creating something so powerful, not to mention we made some really great friends in the process.

We hope you enjoy our pictures and stay tuned for our latest project in Barrio Niquitao! Next stop...Bogota!
